My use of audio had been very limited. I usually used too much audio in teaching tools such as PowerPoint presentations. I used audio in order to be flashy, not to emphasize certain points. I was not using sound to make sure the pupils were learning during my micro teaching last semester. I also was not familiar with the audio editing programs that are available for use on the computer.
Through my reading, I learned that “less is more” with any audio used for instructional purposes. I learned that sound is not just sound effects. Sound can be found in things such as videos, television shows, and computer games. I also learned that there are different types of sound categories including: speech, sound effects, and music. After reading “Multimedia in Learning,” I learned that sound can be used to accentuate a visual presentation. Adding sound can draw out certain aspects of a performance. My work for this task would not have been as effective without the recorded sound and sound effects.
I enjoyed using the “Easy Audio Cutter” and “Virtual DJ” programs to edit my recordings. My “ah ha” moment came when I realized that I can edit the audio by adding some effects to make the audio more interesting and it can also attract the audience to enjoy the audio. I have also found it helpful when editing songs; for example, deleting portions of a song or creating a song that is exactly three minutes long. Finally, thanks to my friends whose want to share with me this software. Really helpful in order for me to edit my audio. :)
